Tokyo Trip 2023

Coldplay tokyo

When COLDPLAY first announced their Tokyo tour, I reached out to a friend living in Tokyo for assistance with the lucky draw immediately and to my delight, she expressed interest in joining me. Serendipitously, we not only secured the tickets we were hoping for but also landed the seats that exceeded our expectations. When I landed in Tokyo and on my way to Tokyo Dome, I never anticipated that YOASOBI would be the special guest. Admittedly, I hadn't been familiar with the band, but it dawned on me that I had encountered their music numerous times on social media or while strolling through the streets.

In a delightful twist, I later discovered that a few of my friends were also attending the same concert in the same date via Instagram story and prompting an unexpected reunion in Tokyo instead of our usual rendezvous in Hong Kong.
After their spectacular 30-minute performance featuring approximately six songs, YOASOBI, the special guest, left the stage. Interestingly, it seemed like a significant portion of the audience had specifically come to enjoy YOASOBI's set, creating an unexpected highlight alongside the headlining act, COLDPLAY.
Experiencing my inaugural COLDPLAY concert was a momentous occasion. Initially, I had considered experiencing their performance during my European sojourn in Milan. However, I found myself deterred by exorbitant reselling ticket prices. Winning the lucky draw, acquiring seats that exceeded my expectations, and witnessing YOASOBI's performance at such an affordable price in Tokyo turned out to be the highlight of my year. The level of engagement and sheer enjoyment surpassed all expectations, making it undeniably the best decision I've made this year.

Tokyo with Friends

Initially scheduled for February, the trip unfortunately had to be cancelled due to personal reasons. Fortunately, circumstances aligned, and we were able to reschedule the adventure within the same year. Candidly, it marked my inaugural experience of traveling with friends in Japan, bringing a delightful change to the overall dynamics. Many aspects of the journey felt refreshingly different in a positive manner, especially with the added joy of experiencing group travel.

Disney sea tokyo

Embarking on my inaugural visit to Disney Sea was truly a momentous occasion. To be frank, I've yet to set foot in Hong Kong Disneyland, aside from attending a friend's wedding at the Disney hotel. The reasons elude me; perhaps missed opportunities or a lack of initiative. Nevertheless, exploring Tokyo's Disney Sea with friends, the only one of its kind in the world, infused my experience with immense joy, amplified by the photogenic charm saturating every corner. I fervently hope that on my next visit, I can extend the enchantment by staying overnight and relishing the park in a wholly different light.

Kawaguchi-ko

I had the good fortune of embarking on a road trip to Kawaguchi-Ko with friends, particularly one who was fluent in Japanese. Amidst occasional highway exit mishaps, serendipity led us to a local cafe boasting an extraordinary view and a unique ambiance. To my delight, it turned out that the owner or owner's wife had undertaken a remarkable journey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, a feat I've always aspired to achieve.

After departing the local cafe, we eventually reached the Kawaguchi-Ko area near Fujikawaguchiko Town and stumbled upon another gem, the Haostay cafe. Interestingly, It was established by a Taiwanese individual, if my guess is accurate. During our visit, we encountered a young lady from Taiwan on a month-long working holiday, planning to venture to a Hokkaido ski resort for another chapter of her working holiday adventure. This kind of spontaneous exploration and discovery truly resonates with me. Reflecting on it, if I had dared to undertake such adventures right after university, I might have accumulated a wealth of varied life and work experiences.
